I plan to buy and screen replacement to fix my phone myself, however without being able to see my screen and only a flickering bar at the bottom (which indicates that my phone is on), I'm unable to turn off my phone. I tried hold the power and volume button down but that only resets it when I want my phone completely off.

Two options.
Either let the battery go flat, thereby the phone turns off or disconnect the battery from the systemboard.
