A new version of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 was announced in February 2019, with Android 9.0 Pie (upgradable to Android 10), the Exynos 7904 chipset and an IPS display with an unchanged resolution. The rear flash is removed, S-Pen support is dropped and the battery is smaller, while the front camera is upgraded to 5 MP and the speakers are now stereo. Models numbers: SM-T515 & SM-T510.

Is there some way to test if the screen is broken?

It's the 2021 model of A8 (SM-X200), not 2019.

After reflashing firmware, the screen no longer lights up. The tablet can be put in download mode etc, and boots into android (can hear the sound when connecting usb, shows up as media device on pc). I've opened the tablet and reseated screen ribbon in both ends, but still no go.

Hi @fredcop

Why did you have to reflash the firmware?

Did you ensure that you got the correct firmware for the model in your location? With Samsung the firmware can be dependent on where the phone was first bought i.e. which country/area it was designed for, even if the "model" is sold worldwide

With the phone turned on, try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the screen and check for any images. They will be very faint if they are there so trying in a darkened room may help to see them.

If they are there then there's a backlight problem. Either the software is not turning the backlight on or it is a hardware problem.

Root. Yes, original firmware was EUX, new as well.

There is no sign of any image being displayed.

Wait a minute, after intense inspection I can see some squares. They disappear when rebooting but appear in download mode.

@fredcop

Try this link and check if you can get it back to a normal working mode.

@jayeff Thanks for the advice. Tried it (EUX fw), it boots but still black screen.

@fredcop

Which EUX firmware did you try?

There's this one which is for PDA X200XXU1AVG1 CSC 200OXM1AVG1 and this one for PDA/AP Version X200XXU1AUKG CSC Version X200OXM1AUKG.

Both are for EUX but there may be differences in the hardware setup
