You are limited to what offered for your series. Getting an unlocked chip won’t help you as you can’t alter the systems clock timings.
Remember this is not a hobbyist system to mod! This is a a best balance for someone that wants good performance and style with the least amount of dickering about.

First, thank you for your response. So, changing the CPU from an i5 to an i7 will not produce additional performance because on the clock speed limitations of the motherboard?

@lightfinder - That’s not what I said, here are your options from EveryMac lookup: iMac18,3 the CPU’s listed will work across anyone of these. The premise you inferred was over clocking which you can’t do in an iMac.
