Hello, I am soon fixing an iPhone 11 for a friend that dropped it and the oled was badly damaged. Do I need a screen reprogrammer for the new screen to work if I replace it? (this is my first iPhone repair. and the person is glad to let me use f for practice)

Screen will work just fine. Face ID will also work just fine as long as you transfer the front sensor assembly from the old display to the new display.
Programmer comes in to get True Tone to function. If your friend doesn't care about that, should be good to go. You will still get the "Important Display Message" regarding the authenticity of the screen. But everything will still work (aside from True Tone).

@andyreww These sorts of programners still don't get rid of the "Important Display Message." The only way to get rid of that is for Apple to replace the display and pair the new display to the phone. Or to desolder the chip containing the data from the original screen and transfer it to the new screen. It's a process that's a bit of a pain and requires microsoldering skills to complete.
The display message doesn't affect functionality at all, as long as you've transfered true tone data and the sensor assembly from the original screen. It's just a deterrent Apple implemented to encourage people to use their repair services instead of a third party.
Is the something that you can do once the device is jailbreaked?
@andyreww I'm honestly not sure. Possibly. But I have never heard of anyone doing that.
This message doesn't actually affect the phone from being used and it only appears in a prominent location in settings for a short while. After a week or so (they have changed the length of the more intrusive delate a few times so I don't know for sure any more), you will only be able to see it in the settings, if you look for it.
