iPhone 6s home button capacitor value

hello everyone!

I got this iPhone 6s with home button Touch ID not working.

Also I found the home button was getting hot.

I checked 4 caps on home button & found 3rd cap to be shorted.

I removed it & want to replace it.

Please inform me value of this capacitor.

Thanks!

If it’s a capacitor and it had one “leg” on ground, it is not entirely necessary to replace it for functionality. In fact depending on what line and where the cap is I often don’t replace. Especially if it’s something I think might do more damage with me trying to get a new cap back on there. It’s probably there for electrical signal smoothing and there are probably other caps on that line that will get the job done.

Did removing that cap clear the short? Did you test to make sure Touch ID is functional now? If it is, then I might call it a day. If it is not, I can still see why you would want to replace this. It’s possible it’s a line with very few other components so the one capacitor is necessary. In which case, I will set myself a reminder to check this after work today. I know I have spare iPhone 6S buttons at home.

Removing cap removed the short, I put home button in other iPhone 6s & 3utools showed Touch ID SN Read Value.

Now I will put it on original iPhone & try!

@flannelist Thanks!

No more Touch ID error, Place your finger screen . .. doesn't detect fingerprint even when home button touched.

I soldered 2 jumper wires at place of capacitor & pulled them outside, so can try different values.

Also it was getting dangerous to add/remove flex multiple times.

@flannelist any update for me?

Thanks!

@v1ny4 Well. Yes and no. Hahahaha. I tried to get a reading, but I didn't want to yank the capacitor and my multimeter just wasn't cooperating. I need new leads, or to file my leads to be honest, it's a tight space to try and get any level of accurate readings in. I wasn't even getting readings that one side was ground which seemed weird if you were getting that it was short to ground.

And then my ADHD took over and I TOTALLY forgot until just now. Putting a fresh reminder in my phone to investigate tonight.

@flannelist Thanks a lot!
