Keeps turning off and wont turn on for a while

I have a Macbook Air A1466 (mid-2012). Looks like it's working fine, but after some time using it (can be one day, or just one hour) it turns off and won't turn on again for few hours.

Everything looks fine with it, except for this problem, that turned it into a useless notebook. Power adapter looks like working fine (battery charges and discharges normally).

I already tried to reinstall OS and change power adapters.

Follows attached the Coconut Battery information:

The built-in diagnostic shows me the error PPT004, but I read that it shows this error for non-apple batteries... I replaced the battery recently and was working fine.

What could be wrong with it?

OK, the battery looks healthy! As far as PPT004, this often is related to SMC needing a reset after a new battery.

Lets give this a try, follow this guide to disconnect the battery go to Step 3 Sostituzione Batteria MacBook Air 13" metà 2012 With the battery disconnected press and hold the power button for 15sec to fully discharge the logic board, now plug the MagSafe charger in, the system should spontaneously restart, let it finish booted and then do a proper shutdown. Reconnect the battery and restart the system give it a good 15 mins to let the systems settings to reset, then restart and run the onboard diagnostics again did that clear the PPT004 error?

Sorry we need to start replacing things to fix this system. I'm suspecting your trackpad is the hot issue MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2012) Trackpad and here's the MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Trackpad Replacement guide.

I think you have a moisture issue which is what is messing you up. I would inspect the logic board as it might also have some corrosion as well.

Thanks for the instruction.

I did it but still PPT004 shows on diag and the computer problem still persists.

(FYI: diag also says the camera have problem NDC001, but I think it's not related)

@Fernando Ŝajani - I was hoping it would be a simple fix, sadly not. The SMC logic is having problems! Did you have a liquid spill into the keyboard/trackpad or sit the system down on a wet surface at some point?

This will need the logic board repaired or replaced.

da

@danj I dont remember spilling any liquid on it. I usually use it on my desk. I took to an technical guy to take a look at the logic board, but he could not find anything. Probably he doesn't have enough expertise to properly diagnose the problem. :(

da

@Fernando Ŝajani - Do you use a cleaner spray on your keyboard/trackpad? That could be the issue!

da

@danj No, I never did that... Should I?
