Hi @jizzlecizzle
You didn’t provide the full model number so hopefully all Omni 10 models are the same.
A yellow exclamation mark usually means a driver problem.
Try this first:
If you can access the internet OK make sure that the PC is online and then go to Device Manager > Human Interface devices > right click on Touchscreen entry > and click on Update drivers and follow the prompts to allow the PC to go online to check for any updated drivers for the touchscreen..
If that doesn’t work or it says that the latest drivers are already installed then try this:
It it nearly the same as before but you are changing the controller type manually.
Go to Device Manager > Human Interface devices > right click on Touchscreen entry > and click on Update drivers. When following the prompts when you get to browse my computer, you'll have the option to "let me choose" and then you select usb input device instead of touchscreen controller.
Hopefully this will restore your HID touchscreen.
Hi @jizzlecizzle
OK it looks like you have a HP Omni 10-5600ef
Here's the maintenance and service guide for the tablet, taken from this webpage (note that the sku number at the end of URL on page matches what you provided which sort of verifies that it is the correct model)
All I can suggest is that you open the tablet and check that the touchscreen board cable is securely connected - see p.33-34. Maybe disconnect the cable at both ends? and clean the cable ends with Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ if it looks secure, just in case it is a dirty (corroded?) connection.
As always when working with electronics disconnect the battery from the motherboard (see p.22) as soon as it is accessible so as to prevent any electrical problems from occurring when using tools etc. Reconnect the battery as late as possible in the re-assembly procedure or only if you wish to test if it is now working OK but remember to then be careful!
Also wear an earthed wrist strap to help prevent ESD damage if you inadvertently touch some sensitive components when you shouldn’t have ;-)
The manual makes no mention of the Touchscreen "board" as a separate part in the parts list, only that it has a 10.1-in, AG, LED, WUXGA, TouchScreen, display panel assembly, so maybe the board is part of the display panel assembly.

Hi @jizzlecizzle ,
What is the full model number of the tablet?
Is there a red cross or a yellow exclamation mark next to the touchscreen entry in Device Manager > Human Interface Devices?
Please verify the status of the touchscreen in Device Manager > Human Interface devices > right click on Touchscreen entry > Properties > General tab > Device Status box.

Hi, @jayeff.
I appreciate you reaching out.
A yellow exclamation mark is visible.
I have a 'device cannot start. (Code 10)' information in the 'properties' window.
Accompanied with:
'A request for the HID descriptor failed'

@jayeff , actually, I just realized the Bluetooth function does not work -no idea why and if it's related to the touchscreen problem.
