Shuts Down Randomly When Inactive But Then Quietly Reboots Itself
It happens randomly daily. The Mac shuts itself down… so far only it only occurs when idle. The screen goes black. You don’t hear the chime or rebooting sounds associated with startup. When I slightly touch the power button as you would to wake the computer out of sleep… the grey start-up screen appears and begins to load the desktop. On the desktop a notification states that the computer shutdown unexpectedly with the option to either cancel or report the incident to apple. I have checked the consoles system.log immediately after shutdown to see if I can identify the cause for the failure.
The following is the Console System.Log’s notation:
Jan 31 21:19:29 localhost com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.opendirectoryd): Unknown key for Boolean: BeginTransactionAtShutdown
Jan 31 21:19:29 localhost com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd): Service has increased maximum shutdown time to 65 seconds. This will create a poor experience for the user.
Initially I thought it might be a partial power supply failure… but I wonder now if it isn’t a software matter. I have performed both an SMC and PRAM without success.
Would appreciate any knowledgeable input. Can supply any further information/screen captures that might help identify the problem.
Thank you for your time with this.
