Why is my screen unresponsive after a few minutes?

Has no physical damage or anything. Model is SM-T380. After a few minutes of use, the screen doesn't respond to my touch but the home button still works as well as power/volume.

Hi,

Does it always happen when using the same app?

What happens if you don't touch it for a few minutes does it respond?

How do you exit the tablet to turn it off?

da

It happens in a variety of apps.

If I leave it for a few minutes if usually starts working again.

I usually just hit the lock button to turn it off when the screen becomes responsive again.

Hi,

Try starting the tablet in safe mode and check the operation of the touchscreen.

If it works OK then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one is the culprit.

You’ll need to uninstall each downloaded app, one by one and test the tablet in normal mode between each uninstall to check if it is working OK. Once it does then the last downloaded app that you uninstalled was the cause of the problem. Start with the ones that were installed or updated about the time the problem started.

If it stills fails in safe mode then wipe the cache partition (should be the same for your model) and check the operation of the touchscreen.

If it still fails after clearing the cache partition try a factory reset to check whether it is a software problem or perhaps a hardware problem.

Be aware that a factory reset will erase all your data and downloaded apps. It will restore the tablet to its’ factory default condition (or last system updated condition), so backup the tablet first before performing a factory reset.

Use the tablet’s backup feature to backup the tablet to the cloud or a PC etc.

Once the tablet has been backed up, perform the factory reset (or restore) using the tablet’s factory restore feature.

Once it has been restored to its’ factory default condition, check the operation of the touchscreen.

If it still fails you have a hardware problem.

It it works OK (give it a bit of time to satisfy yourself that it is really OK) restore the tablet from the backup that you made earlier, by using the tablet’s restore feature.

Once the tablet has been restored to what it was, check the operation of the touchscreen.

if it still works OK then the reset has resolved the problem.
