Hi @birdiebee ,
There are no system updates available anymore for your model tablet, that is most probably why the option is not working.
Here’s a link to an answer on ifixit regarding this. The link in the answer goes to a website that explains how to root the tablet to possibly gain some improvements but doing this is not an OS (Operating System) update.

Unfortunately the model tablet shown above (RCT6303W87), is not listed among the devices that have software downloads available on the link you posted.
