MacBook Pro turns off on its own and can hardly connect again.

At some point my macbook started shutting itself out. Each time with a higher frequency. He hardly ever calls. Sometimes I press the power button and after some time (60 seconds) it shows the characteristic boot sound and again it turns off.

I already tried to open it, disconnected the battery and turned it on again. Unsuccessfully

I already tried to reset the PRAM and SMC, without success as well.

Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

Try running diagnostics, press and hold the D key when you restart the system. Apple introduced a bug in the updated firmware so it might not work.

@danj Try to update the system before, because I tried to run the diagnostics and the computer shuts down in the middle of the process.

I have not yet succeeded in trying to discover the source of the problem. Sometimes he hangs up and does not care anymore. I can tell he tries to call, but a small noise internally and then disarms (as if it were a hd trying to call, but it has a ssd. = /

Ever replaced thermal paste before ? Since the trouble increases its frequency it might be heat related, possibly thermal induced shutdowns. Or, symptoms may point to a GPU failure unfortunately.

Hmm, I suspect it is something related to temperature itself. I will investigate this question a little more. I hope that's not a problem on the GPU rsrs. Thanks for the help.

Computers are cold when you initialed boot them, it takes a little while to heat up, ergo, I don't think your issue is heat related.

da

@mayer A good point, but it's summer time and temperature ramping up to thermal shutdowns threshold is easier than usual. That was my optimistic view, although if I had to bet, with those symptoms I'd put my money on a GPU failure given the onboard card, its age and history.

da

@arbaman @mayer a processor can overheat within 3-8 seconds from bootup. So it really should never be ruled out until it is proven that it is not overheating.

da

@mayer @arbaman @oldturkey03 I'm trying to investigate these points. Maybe disable the GPU and just use intel graphics, but I have not had the time. Sometimes there is not even 5 min of system time running. The record lately was 20 minutes. = /

Some MacBooks will not start until there is a minimum charge on the battery. You can press the power button and they will not start until the battery has enough charge on it. But after receiving some charging they will boot on their own if the power button has been pressed earlier.

Let’s use this tool to take a look at your battery:

UPDATE 7/9?19

your symptoms were common on earlier machines. Please verify your exact machine by entering your serial number here and let us know:

Apparently the battery is in a good condition, with only 72 cycles used. I suspect it is not a battery. = /

da

Let's just disconnect the battery from the logic board and see if the MagSafe charger will allow the system to fully boot up.
