Yes. Up to 8 GB SDRAM , DDR3L 1600MHz SDRAM Onboard Memory

The RAM slot is on the under side of the motherboard!

Hi @aactech ,

It appears as though not all 541 models are the same.

I posted a video earlier showing the 541 UV RAM replacement and as you stated the slot is on the back of the motherboard.

When corrected by the OP that it was not the same as theirs I posted one of a 541SA teardown and there is no sign of a RAM slot on either side of the board.

In the video, to me there are signs of the RAM being soldered directly to the board, but hey. my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Cheers.

Your eyes are fine and I think our friend the soldered on RAM.

Sorry but you are out of luck. You have the “rip off” model.

I’m guessing it is a “Chromebook” for school children.

Hi,

It seems that you cannot upgrade the RAM in your laptop without replacing the motherboard.

Here's a link to a teardown video for your model showing that the RAM is mounted directly onto the motherboard.

Apologies for the earlier post

I know I’m late for the party, but here’s one I opened up recently. Windows 10, 2GB RAM non-upgradeable. Not quite a Chromebook plaything, but rather a cheap piece of junk for Adults who should rather have spent some extra for a proper notebook.

You may have to install more RAM, but if you don’t want to, there are still some ways to improve your laptop’s performance by manipulating your computer’s hard drive.

  1. Give your hard drive less work to do. Uninstall software you don’t need, and store your photos/videos/documents/etc. on a flash drive instead of on your hard drive. Hard drives with less data and programs on them run faster.
  2. Optimize your hard drive. HDD hard drives are slow compared to SSD hard drives. If your hard drive is an HDD, running the defrag/optimize utility may help. Type “Defragment and Optimize Drives” in the Search Bar at the bottom left of your screen, hit Enter, and click the “Optimize” button on the window that pops up. Windows will tweak your hard drive for the best performance that is possible for it.
  3. Consider using ReadyBoost. ReadyBoost is a Windows feature to help hard drives that run at 5400 RPM or less. ReadyBoost allows you to plug in a USB flash drive into your computer and have Windows use it as if it were extra memory. To use the ReadyBoost feature, plug a flash drive into your USB port. Then, open Windows/File Explorer and right-click on the flash drive. Choose “Properties” from the pop-up menu and go to the ReadyBoost tab. Click the Use this device option and click OK.

Your computer’s performance should improve.
