Why does my iPhone 6s battery drop after restart?

Why does my iPhone 6s (2 years old) drop from 100% to around 97% immediately after turning the device on? It has been doing this for about a year now and I have yet to find a solution, also I have checked the battery health and it is at 87% wear level, so it is well within it’s limits and does not need replacing yet. Thank you in advance for your help!

Battey health is not always an indication that the battey is ok

Often needing to check the battery itself and seeing if there is cell damage can varifie whether it looks damaged or not.

I would still try with a new battery considering its 2 years old this way eliminating the basic solution.

Ok, thank you, although the battery life is still very good considering it’s age, and from the outside at least there is no visible expansion or damage to the battery or to the rest of the phone. Do you think it could be software related, as it started back on iOS 10, however it only happened from time to time, then I updated to iOS 11 and it started happening almost every time I switched my phone on?

iOS 11 did have some glitches so it's worth updating to iOS 12

It does that because it takes energy to boot IOS on your phone.

Ok, although it never happened for the first, I’d say 11 months of having the phone, I kept it on the same version of iOS for about a year (iOS 10) and it started doing it all of a sudden and since updating to iOS 11, it got worse, and updating to iOS 12 hasn’t made any difference. Also it can’t be the power needed to boot up the device as sometimes it only drops 1% and sometimes it drops 5%
