Washed iPod, wifi works close to router

About 4 months ago my iPod went through the wash. I immediately put it in rice for about 7-8 days and took it out. It worked perfectly and remains to work perfectly. The only problem I have is that the wifi works only 2-3 feet away from my router. I was reading up on my "homework" and saw that I should replace my WiFi Flex Ribbon Cable, but then I read about replacing the whole Logic Board. What I need to know before I buy some parts is..

1. Is the WiFi Flex Ribbon Cable included inside the logic board?

2. Where can I get a logic board if needed?

3. What is the difference between a WiFi Flex Cable, and a Wifi Flex Ribbon cable? Would they both work in my iPod Touch 32G 3rd Generation?

My brother is a Technology Engineer major going on his last year at college, would he be able to help me disassemble and assemble? or should I get someone with more experience.

Thanks for any help I can get !

Adam, the problem that you might be running into is corrosion. Check this guide and proceed with that. Take a good look at all the connectors, components and flex cables. I would think that I would start with the flex cables if I felt like replacing anything, since it is far more economical. Do one repair after the next, not all together since that will get costly and confusing. Yes, I think your brother could do it as well as you yourself. Use the guides provided here and study those. If you follow them and read the notes that other users may have left you will be okay. I do believe that it is better if you do your own search for the logic board. Just Google it and see what is close to what you want to spend and where you need it shipped to. Anyhow, best of luck to you.
