install 1x2GB Ram in slot and 1x250MB in another works?

Hi there,

My sister has white MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83Ghz. It came with 768 of ram and want to upgrade to 2GB. She got 1x2GB RAM stick. If the 2GB Ram installed in 1 slot and retain the other pair of old ram in the other, will this work?

Your sisters computer only has two memory slots so she would have to pull the smallest one currently installed to achieve maximum memory. That would give her 2.5 GB--Apple says max 2 GB but many users are installing 3 GB so she should be ok.
