What is wrong with my WiFi ic chip?

Hi, my iPhone Wifi & Bluetooth is both not working and decided it was the WiFi ic chip and was going to swap a WiFI IC chip from a locked iPhone 7 onto my iPhone 7 but before I did that I took the iPhone 7 motherboard out of the phone and tested it without the case by just plugging it back in and it worked just fine so put it back together and it stopped working again, is the WiFi ic chip the problem or is it something else that is not cooling the WiFi ic chip so that it needs air or something?

This video will explain more:

Video of WiFi & bluetooth prob

Hope someone knows what is going on and if it is the WiFi ic chip or something else?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, but this is very weird here I made a video example of what is happening and it is very weird.

on Video 1 PLEASE STOP WATCHING until 1:20 unless you want to watch me take the motherboard out of case for about 9 minutes.

I dont think it is WiFi Chip but please watch the videos with sound and let me know as I think showing help people understand the problem better.

Thank you in advance!

dude did you ever figure this out? I have the exact same issue man. only thing is this device was bent.. and I had to unbend the frame. Wondering if that has anything to do with it?

Unfortunately, you can't just swap the WiFi IC. the MAC address is linked in the NAND so in order to replace that IC, you must use a PCIe programmer to unbind the MAC address. Your first step, if you still feel it's WiFi IC related is to reball it.

I would also check how the board is mounted in the housing. The antenna's are sensitive to what is connected where and that antenna cap (we can see it on your mag mat) insures everything connects properly. If anything is misaligned, you could be shorting out (manner of speaking) antennas.

i have seen this before. in my case i removed the wifi module and found there were (if i remember correctly) 4 pads lifted or loose and were detaching from the board. i ran jumper wires for all 4 and wifi and bluetooth functionality was restored.

hi Luk

I have iphone 7 with Wifi greyed out but Bluetooth works fine. What`s the issue you think please?

Justin - I had similar issue after update to 12.3.1 (Iphone 7) - Apple said that it was a bad wifi module, just a coincidence that it happened during an update. I replaced the battery and restored the phone - wifi module was OK.

TEMPORALLY FIXED: get some thick tape and put it under the WiFi and Bluetooth chip.

it’s located at the bottom of the mother board the big gray chip is WiFi and the small one at the top is Blurtooth.

iPhone 7 ONLY

HOPE THIS HELPS :)
