Bottom case MB PRO latch compatibility (2006-2007 models)

Hello,

I have a 17" macbook pro santa rosa (2007) with a broken latch (bottom case), which means the lid doesn't stay closed anymore (even though the lid hooks are fine).

I do find some latch for sale, but it would help if:

-I knew which other 17" models have the same latch

-I knew if the 15" models have a compatible latch.

Tx in advance!!

Maybe it can be fixed. Do you know what's wrong? Will the latches descend from the upper case? Do they align with the receiver? Are they bent or broken off?

Tx Mayer I just edited my first comment to make it clearer. One of the 2 bottom receptacles is broken.

There are two latches in the top and the receptacles are in the bottom with the magnets. Carefully close the lid and see if they line up and see if the top latches are being pulled down. Gently push the top case in the direction it needs to go after observations. You can also inspect the hooks to see if they are broken or bent.

I could not find the latches sold separately for the 17" machine but take a look at the ones for the 15" links found here: Metal Hook on Lid not retreating all the way

Contact the seller for compatibility.

Hi,

these do not work as my problem is with the bottom receptacles, not the hooks that are included in the lid.

I did find now my latch on ebay, but answer can be useful anyway.

mmmh, maybe I am not clear enough: my latch is *broken*, ie the little metal latch INSIDE the bottom case is *broken* (not stuck, really broken). Tx anyway

Of course I can't see your broken part without a picture. Others have assumed the latch broken when it was not. Please look at the answer from John Boyce1 on the discussions.apple link or post a picture.
