Metal Hook on Lid not retreating all the way

This is concerning one of the metal hooks that close the lid to the latch.

When one of those hooks does not retreat back into its hole, is this due to something being broken IE a spring of some kind.

When manually pressed back into the hole, the hook "stays", but starts to come out again as the lid is closed. Upon opening, the hook "stays out".

The lid *does* stay shut when closed, so this isn't a critical issue, but:

The concern I have is that hook becoming bent accidently by a user, which makes me want to at least attempt a fix, if possible. Ultimately, the front bezel could be replaced, but I'm not going to that extent yet.
