Why can I only have four apps before the memory is full?

I have the BLU Energy Diamond and am pretty pleased with it, had it a year. The only thing I don't like is that I can't upgrade it when it tells me to as it says not enough memory, nor can I download any more apps. I have Facebook, whatsapp, twitter and my banking app on there and THAT IS ALL I have downloaded although there are lots on there which I don't use and came with the phone. Surely this is wrong and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I like the phone but everytime it asks me to update its operating system, I try and it says not enough memory. The photos are saved to a micro SD 32GB card. How come others can have lots and lots of apps but I can't?

If you have Android 6 or newer and a spare high quality SD card, go to Settings --> Storage --> Format SD as Internal Storage.

This will combine your SD and your 8gb as a single storage unit so you can load more apps.

For example if you put a 32gb in, you will now have a 40gb phone.

Note you cannot remove the SD card if you do this.

OS and bloatware take up a very large percentage of an 8GB phone, assuming that's what it is, and can't be moved to the SD card. After formatting a 8GB chip is about 7GB. The only solutions: root the phone and remove the bloatware. Or, get a new phone. If one of your apps are taking up a lot of storage, move them to the SD card if you can. Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and your banking app are all capable of taking more than normal amounts of storage by taking photos and storing them on your phone.

Install Google photos (If it doesn't already come pre-installed) and set it up to back up all your photos on high quality infinite storage. Then use the free up space function of the app.

Hope this helps!

Hi @lolopalooza ,

1. Go to Settings > Device > Storage and USB and check what storage is in use and what is available for the internal and SD Card storage areas.

Not sure re your phone but "internal" storage may also be known as "phone" storage.

2. Go to Settings > Device > Apps, swipe to downloaded and then scroll down and tap each app. Check if there is a Move to SD Card option available for the app. If so tap it and follow the prompts.

By default, downloaded apps are installed in the internal storage area. Be aware that not all apps can be moved to the SD Card.
