Is it impossible to remove the home button flex cable in a 6s?

I know you can on the 6 but I've read it's fused to the digitizer in the 6s. Just looking for confirmation.

The home button extension cable is together with the screen on the iPhone 6s.

The home button itself is separate and removable though.

Ah yeah I meant the extension. My 6s is going through the "cannot activate Touch ID" thing and Apple told me my sensor is busted. So I was thinking if I could replace the extension cable, that might help since I know I can't replace the button itself.

If you happened to have replace the screen and then that message appeared then there is a chance that the cable (from the screen) plugging into the home button and logic board is faulty.

Thanks, Ben! So it may be worth just getting an entire display replacement to test that hypothesis out since I can't just replace the cable.

You will have to replace the metal plate that has the flex extension in it. During screen removal, this cable is easy to stretch and subsequently damage. I did it on my first one and panicked because you cannot replace the Touch ID but turns out it was only the extension which is replaceable.

The design of the home button extension cable is different from the 6 and 6s. On the 6s it's pretty much built together with the screen.

Hmm! I wonder then-- because I have a spare 6s display (cracked screen) that I wouldn't mind busting up to get to the cable. Think it's possible?

I'm not sure but it might be easy to separate that part on the screen. Not sure for original screens but some aftermarket screens make it easy to separate.

I have used my cracked 6s home button extension cable to fix this issue.
