the monitor cable or the pc box (the power cord of the pc box)

The video cable. What model is your PC?

Hi,

Is the monitor powered on?

Can you access the monitor menu options by pressing the menu button on the monitor? (You don't give a make and model number for either the PC or the monitor, this would really help us to help you!)

If you can see menu options on the monitor have you tried starting the PC in 'safe mode' to see if there is a display?

Do you see the PC's 'splash screen' , screen that shows the PC maker's name before it boots into Windows?

Can you connect another monitor to the PC to prove whether the problem is the monitor or the PC?

What have you tried to do to get a display on the monitor?

da

Yes, the monitor is powered on

No, I can't access the monitor menu when I press "menu" button. Model number of the monitor I think it is HP S1932 Monitor, PC Model could be HP dx2700 microtower base DT PC

The display is blank when I turn on, so I can't access "safe mode"

No, the display is complete blank, completely nothing happened when I turn on the PC

No, I didn't, but I think I will try

Don't know, it was my dad's computer, everything was set before he gave it to me, but maybe he just plug all the cables for the monitor

Either your GPU or cable is bad.

First, try replacing your cable. If both support it, use displayport. If they don't, use HDMI. If they support neither, use DVI. If replacing the cable doesn't work, your GPU must be bad. Tell me the model of your PC, and if you can the model of the GPU. I will then provide a replacement.

If you cannot see the monitors menu then i say the monitors screen might be dead (or the back light). i bet if you try another monitor you'll get a picture.

Does it really works? Because the problem only happened when I upgraded it to Windows 7, before I upgrade, it works 100% fine

Normally a monitor have an indicator light. Is that one on or off? If no light it shows that

1 there is or no power supplied via main cable

2 Main cable defective, try an other one

3 Main switch? Some monitors have on the backsite a main switch and on the front a small on/off switch.

4 all ok above well your build in powersupply ias out of order. The display is not working anymore, so you can at least try to find a little fault, example a fuse on the power supply board or so. Check by metering if supply voltage is available on psu and output voltages on psu etc.

BE CAREFULL FOR LIVE HIGH VOLTAGES FROM MAINS SUPPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also it very well could be something as easy as the resolution. First try to boot a bootable cd/dvd/flash drive and see what happens, if it boots and the screen works, reboot and attempt to start in safe mode. As soon as the computer comes on start tapping the F8 key (7 or 8 times) and see if it gives you a screen with selection on how to start. Cursor up (or down) to the start in safe mode (without networking) and hit enter. When computer boots go to display settings and select 1024x768, apply and reboot.
