Use the included link to determine which model G4 you have. Then see if it has a PRAM battery. If it does disconnect it and see if you can boot. If so you must choose between leaving it out and entering the date and time each time you boot or replacing the battery with a new one.

I have the Powerbook G4 Mercury and could you tell me how to access the PRAM battery?

Use the following guide--item number 616-0114A in step 16 is the PRAM battery.

Here is the link to the part.

Before you mess with the PRAM battery, does anything happen when you press the power button, i.e. power-on noises, etc., or is it completely 100% dead? Also, what color is the light on the AC adapter plug? Try removing the battery from the machine, and see what color the plug is with the battery removed. If should be green. If it's amber, you have a bad DC-in, and they're integrated into the logic board on the Mercury model, so basically your logic board is toast...only the DVI version of the Titanium has a replaceable DC-in.

My PowerBook is not making any sound so do you think it is dead or can it ever turn on? The color is green when I plug it in without the battery. Is that a good chance that I can fix it?

I have not heard from you in over a week. What is going on? Are you still there?

da

You need to report back on the results of what you were asked to do.

My results are above. It was made on Dec 7. What is the problem?

da

You say it has been in storage for years--was it working when you stored it? If so since you seem to meet rdklinc requirements have you tried disconnecting the PRAM battery?
