When I turn my laptop on, the screen is black. Why?

First, double check that the laptop is actually on, if the screen remains black when the power is on try turning the brightness up - it could be that the screen is just very dim. If this does not work you may have to remove the frame around the screen and check the screen connection. Finally, you may need to replace the screen altogether.
