My panasonic, plasma, viera link, TH-50z80U, TV screen has a wide black band across screen. what part failure caused this symption? TV is 7 yrs old.

@camsup open up the back of your TV and ceck the thin ribbon cables that enter the LCD screen from the SU and SD boards. See if it make a difference if you move those cables. The SU SD boards are on the left hand side of your set.
