No display or backlight after hinge tightening

I have recently tightened the hinges on my wife's 13" MacBook Pro Unibody mid-2012. After reassembly, at first, there was no backlight. Now the whole display does not function. I reopened the case to a strange smell and apparently a blown resistor. Here's an image of it: https://flic.kr/p/BoLEce

Can anyone help me in identifying the component so that I can get it ordered and soldered on?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah I see it now totally Blown UP and off the board inductor, scorched trace looks like no capacitor C9015 means no data line and nifty jump work, sorry its not a a "uh yeah just by a 30 cent resistor and your back in business" unfortunatley it violently blew the data line that's why it got the funky smell :)

That looks like Inductor L9004 the trace looks burned on the board I've zapped once myself you should have no data image with flashlight shine on it. Since it's burned you'll need replacement and may have to make a interesting jump from a capacitor C9012 then to inductor then C9015 they you should be getting 3.3v, if the traces are too scared. For all this you'll need schematics, soldering skills and boardview, the parts you get from mouser the schematic will give you size and value. This is just the answer to your burned data line. Then on to the no backlight!

Hi John!

I appreciate your fast response and detailed answer! I've done some soldering, but not quite at this level. Do you know of any person or business that performs these repairs, or would you recommend having Apple perform the repair and replace the MLB?

Thanks,

Jamie

Well Apple won't actually repair that board they salvage it and have a refurbished one waiting for you at a hefty price. I am not sure we can plug business on here I would google macbook motherboard repair and check the reviews. Most major cities have at least 3 or 4 people doing this type of repair now.
