My hp laptop is not recognizing the ATI HD 7690XT 2GB card

hi there, first time posting on this forum.

my hp dv7 laptop won't recognise the ATI HD 7690XT 2GB graphics card anymore. everytime i try to update drivers it will update, as soon as it goes to screen test the screen will stay stuck on a black screen. this happend after the laptop got extremlly hot.

the laptop itself has two GPU a hd 3000 and ATI HD 7690XT 2GB.

currently its fully working on the hd 3000 but i need the other video card for better 3D modeling and gaming.

would it be possible to replace or upgrade the ATI HD 7690XT 2GB on the laptop or not, or would i have to get it repaired?

thank you

Hi,

The graphics GPU chipsets in your laptop are board mounted. The cost of replacing or repairing it would come close to buying a new PC.

Out of interest in Device Manager does it show the ATI adapter as working, with a red cross or yellow exclamation mark?
