Reset button does not work anymore

Hello everyone,

I have a 4th generation Time Capsule (A1409) that I can't use and reset anymore.

It is not recognized by Airport Utility anymore so, I guess I have to reset it. But the reset button seems to not work.

Nothing happens when I press and hold the reset button, even when I reconnect the station in the same time. (I did this many times in the past, and I was able to soft reset, hard reset and factory default reset when needed).

When reconnecting the power cord, the light will always turn green for a second, then flash amber slowly. There is no difference between holding the reset button or not during the power connecting process.

Each time I connect the unit, I can hear the hard drive and the light turns green then flash amber slowly, so I guess the power supply should be good... maybe I'm wrong?

Any idea about my issue or any other way to perform a factory default reset without using the reset button?

I have the same problem. I have power. The light goes from green to amber. I just can't do a soft reset, no flashing light or click. When I do the hard reset, I can get to the flashing light, but no click sound as it doesn't reset. Can't locate the time capsule with Airport Utility, consequently does not show in finder. I see the lights on the back 5 ports flicker at start up when inserting the power cord, however there is no light inside the port when you plug in the ethernet cable, as there is with my new one. It fires up each time and the hard drive sounds exactly like the new functioning TC. Because it doesn't show up in finder, it won't show a USB stick as a folder either when a stick is inserted into USB as it does with the new replacement TC.

Seems to me, if I could just get it to reset, Airport Utility would see it again...I could set it up, then retrieve my data, and then junk it as I have a replacement. Thanks Rod

And it seems that we went both to the same "solution"... buy a new one :-(
