Is the EMC 2416 same as EMC 2415?

My iPad 2 is a model A1396 EMC 2416

I have to replace the battery

Is it the same as the 2415 for purposes of following the guides here on replacing the battery and reassembly?

If your iPad model is A1396, then you have the WiFi + GSM Cellular device, not just WiFi only. Here is the guide for your device, it is basically the same except your device has some extra antennas at the top that you need to be careful of.
