Wireless keyboard not working properly after upgrade to OS X Yosemite

Hello all,

i've recently updated my 2011 iMac to OS X Yosemite. After the Mac was done some keys of my keyboard stopped working. The entire bottom row stopped working, zxcvbnm,. -keys aren't working either together with the backspace, caps lock and the tab -keys.

All other keys seem to work fine. I've tried resetting the pram or nvram meetings and dmc settings but without any result. Only option was using a windows usb keyboard....sadly.

I hope anyone has an idea how to fix this. It was not damaged in any way.

Did you happen to find a solution to this? I'm having the exact same issue. Directional keys and space bar all not working

Upgrading the OS shouldn't have effected your Bluetooth keyboard physically. It just maybe happen to fail at the same time.

I would take the batteries out and check to see if one has leaked. If so you'll need to clean up the electrolytic ASAP as it is corrosive. Follow this IFIXIT guide: Disassembling the board, power button and battery compartment of an Apple Wireless Keyboard.

I took it apart but no corrosion whatsoever. Still not working at all. left arrow is the same as right arrow.

Right command works but left doesnt.. space is a goner as well

Do you have access to another Mac (even one with an older OS)? If so see if you can link it to it and see if the keyboard works then. If not then see if this in progress guide can help you: Repairing Apple Wireless Keyboard without destroying it. Otherwise its time for a new keyboard.

I have the same problem. Left command and x c v b n m . , not working but it happened after I cleaned it, went out for a couple hours and came back and it was like this. I've tried cleaning and drying it out as well as configuring keyboard settings but nothing.

I have the same problem. Last week I was given a replacement keypad by Apple and it worked for 5 days with its original batteries. Yesterday, all keys stopped working except arrow keys (I can still play Pac the Man)

I bought a cheap $9.90 keyboard made in China at Target the same day I brought my keypad back to Apple, as backup.

That is what I am now using successfully. How odd is that? It uses 3

AAA batteries.

Apple have since designed a new wireless keyboard with recharger inside instead of battery power.

I think they know something about this wireless keypad less than 1 year old that I purchased with my Yosemite imac retina for a lot of money.

This has something to do with blue tooth connectivity. My foreign board is all plastic, not metallic.

@ Marie - We have a ton of wireless keyboards here all Apple. The only real problems we have faced are battery's and having so many Bluetooth devices it's sometimes hard to select the correct unit! But once linked we have not had issues with them.
