When I turn on my notebook there is no screen. I can swipe my finger over the lock feature and it sounds like it goes to the desktop page. Any ideas what is wrong??

It sounds like your LCD is broken however I would make sure that your screen is just not extremely dim due to either a brightness setting or a fried backlight.

Samsung has a known problem with this model!!!!! IT IS WELL AWARE OF FAULTY WIRING CAUSING THE SCREEN TO GO BLANK. THEY WILL EVEN GO SO FAR AS TO TRY AND VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND FALSIFY DOCUMENTS. I doubt that your lcd screen is broken. Do a google search on samsung note 10.1 black screens!!!

Anyone ever come up with a solution to the black screen on the note 10.1 2012? I took off the back panal and undid the tape on the far right and it caused my screen to go completley black. Prior to that the screen had lines on it and the keyboard was off "track" . The screen would flicker and show the same graphic over and over...it wasnt dropped to my knowledge.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. The tablet was purchased new in 2013 and only used about 5 times prior to this happening...
