compatible LCD display between A1278 and A1181 MacBook?
I have been offered a A1181 Macbook for lifting the LCD-panel – not the assembly — and I need this to be compatible to connect with the cables in the A1278 and otherwise work fine. These models have the same graphic card and the same resolution and are quite similar. Are there any reasons the LCD from the A1181 wouldn't work in the A1278?

In order to give you the proper answer, you would have to post the last three digits of the serial numbers for the A1278 and the A1181. Once we know for sure which models you have, then we could tell you more about compatibility

As you can see in the goo.gl links the A1278 is the 'MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (Unibody)', Identifiers: Late 2008 Aluminum - MB466LL/A - MacBook5,1 and the A1181 is the 'MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (White-09), Identifiers: Early 2009 - MB881LL/A - MacBook5,2.

Updated with proper links. Sorry.

As you already found out, the complete assembly will not fit. You want to get the serial/model or manufacturers numbers of both LCD's and post them on here. That way we could try and look a bit deeper for a proper answer.

Given I can get these numbers, what factors would indicate the LCD-panels are not interchangeable? The connectors and cables to the display would be one obvious obstacle. Are there more known incompatibility factors?
