Me too I don't know what glue to use ...

I have the same problem. I have it all disassembled with no idea how to get the flex board to re-adhere to the mother board. It looks like theres an adhesive on the flex board, but I tried applying heat to activate it, but neither a hear dryer or a soldering iron worked. I'm beyond frustrated. Its clear that this is done at the factory during typical assembly, but I still want to try it.

Flex Ribbon Install

This video will show how to connect a Flex Ribbon cable like the one with a Nokia 920,

Here is the 3M Tape used in the video 3M Tape

Took me some time to find the solution works great for the Lumia 920.

Update

Here is a Nokia Care Academy Service Manualfor the Lumia 920.

Its very easy for DIY to go wrong at by the time you get to the Flex Cable. Nokia does not unveil the Main Flex Cable Breakdown in the Service Manual.

I have not used the care described in the Nokia Service Manual and is probably why I have Sim Card not available errors and Proximity Sensor not working (no its not dust).

May have to buy Flex Cable attached already to Light Swap Power Board. A bit more expensive than $4 3m tape I'm afraid.

Have 2 more Flex Cables due to arrive going to try again using the precautions listed in the Nokia Service Manual. Will post results once repair completed.

Update

Here is another way:

Anisotropic-conductive film (ACF) binds circuitry while maintaining electrical conductivity. ACF consists of adhesives that set after heating (thermosetting), adhesives that become soft when hot and hard when cold (thermoplastic) plus conductive particles. The incorporation of conductive particles allows circuitry to fully function because electricity flows freely through the adhesive. 3M manufactures 11 types of ACF for different substrates. However, all ACF adhesive films require three application stages: tacking, liner removal and bonding. All 3M ACF adhesives also require heat to bind two substrates together.

Instructions:

1. Cut the ACF adhesive from the roll in desired size.

2. Stick the tacky side of the adhesive onto one substrate (with the liner facing outwards). Use tweezers if necessary. Press into place.

3. Remove adhesive liner by lifting a corner of the liner with a razor blade. Complete liner removal with tweezers.

4. Join the second substrate to the first and apply pressure to make a temporary bond.

5. Place substrates into a thermo-compression bonder to set the adhesive. ACF adhesive requires heat from 250 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit plus 290 psi of pressure. Although not specifically recommended by 3M, ACF may set with heat from a soldering iron plus pressure imposed by hand.

6. Allow adhesive to cool.

I've received mine tape today, there is more than enough to do 10 lumias, so if there is someone from paris, i can help. (i think i can help). I will do the procedure later and share the results with ya guys!

da

I'v tried to do this like in the video, didin't work for me. Got 2 lumias, one was working but i needed to replace the flex ribbon because my sim tray was broken. 3m tape seems not so strong, tried 2 times. The phone is not booting up. It was before. now I ve got 2 useless lumias 920.

need help too, someone solved the problem?

The 5363 Anisotropic Conductive Film (ACF) adhesive by 3M is a film that can conduct electricity. It is used to connect circuit boards in electronics. By applying heat and pressure, the adhesive flows and secures the gold-plated nickel conductive particles within the pad. These conductive particles within the adhesive film connect the two circuit boards electronically. To place the ACF 5363 adhesive requires specific temperatures and pressures to be reached or the particles will not conduct properly.

Automated Pre-Tacking

1. Use the compressed air to remove dust from the circuit boards you are connecting. Spray the air with the nozzle up. Set the boards in the automated applicator.

2. Set your pre-tacking equipment on your automated ACF applicator to 90 degrees Celsius and to deliver a pressure of 10 kilograms per cubic centimeter. These conditions may need to be adjusted depending on your application, but temperatures should be between 90 and 110 degrees Celsius and pressure at 1-15 kg/cubic centimeter.

3. Place the 5363 ACF adhesive in position in the applicator. (Follow the manufacturer's directions for your model.) Once the pre-tacking step is complete, remove the release liner on the adhesive

4. Bond the boards together. This final bond must be done at 200 degrees Celsius or hotter at a pressure of 30 kilograms per cubic centimeter, using the thermo-compression bonder. Hold the pressure for 10 seconds. More time may be needed to complete the bond, depending on the materials being joined. Maintain the pressure until the temperature drops below 100 degrees Celsius.

Manual Pre-Tacking

1. Use the compressed air to remove dust from the circuit boards you are connecting. Spray the air with the nozzle up. Set the boards in the automated applicator.

2. Trim the 5363 ACF adhesive to the size of your circuit board or pad. Heat the hot plate to a temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. Place the ACF on the circuit board and then put them board-side down on the hot plate.

3. Use the solid roller to press the ACF onto the board. Allow the board and adhesive to cool. Remove the liner from the adhesive.
