After a couple of falls the hinge that contains the green spot pass light (upper right corner) broke off. This break has caused the upper screen to detach from the lower. Is their a good way to repair or replace this part?

I bought the Nerf brand 3ds xl case. Cost about $5-$10. It has it's own hing and the two halves of the 3ds snap into it nicely. I then went to my local hardware store and picked up a plastic spacer that fit in the gap where the hinge used to go. I also picked up a thin screw. I drilled a small hole through the hinge of the Nerf case and then put the screw through at hole and into the plastic spacer. It has been working great for a few months now

This is the most redneck fix i've ever read, does it still work almost 9 years later?

In order to fix the hinge by replacing the center casing, a near-complete disassembly of the system is required.

Make sure to get a good screwdriver and to be careful with the wire attachments.

This does not show how to remove the hinge
Look for my question in this same topic of the 3ds XL please. Well the i see i shell on EBAY last night it is just the beneath part. Maybe you can buy it and change it. PS: to change it, ign have an entire tutorial on youtube and on them webpage. IT IS difficult, so good luck. By the way, the sell was at 130$... Maybe you would want a new 3ds xl and sell yours on 150$
