Battery is randomly recognized and charged

Hi,

I spilled some liquid over my MacBook. After I dried it for several days it runs fine on a power adapter. The battery is not recognized, X over the battery symbol. But the MacBook runs fine on a charged battery but it does not charge it. So I opened the machine and did not see any spill but I removed the magsafe and the battery cable and cleaned what I could see with alcohol and blew it dry pressured air.

Then suddenly the battery was recognized and it started charging. I turned the MB off and suddenly the X over the battery symbol. So I cleaned again the battery contact. I reset PMU and all the standar stuff. Suddenly the battery was recognized again. Now it is not recognized anymore. I tried another working battery with no success. This battery works fine in another MacBook.

I have read all the threads here I could find about the subject and it seems the next step is a new logic board??

Hi, I solved this one myself. I was recommended a new logic board and glad I did not follow that advice because I just changed the battery connector and voila everything is fine now. You can get it from MacRecycling here: http://mac.macrecycling.com/battery-conn...

Just check that your MacBook is Energy-Star or not so you get the correct part.

Hi, first off, good job solving it yourself, but can you please post your solution as an Answer and accept it, rather than a comment, so that this can be removed from the Unresolved and No Answers section? Thanks

Sorry rab, that is not the DC in component. It's the MacBook Battery Connector/Sleep Sensor: MacBook Battery Connector/Sleep Sensor (non-Energy Star)

So the solution was to replace the battery connector. Buy this part: http://mac.macrecycling.com/battery-conn.... I must have overlooked because I could not find this part on ifixit but I saw it now. Of course I urge people to support this site and the part is really cheap.

My note: The part the poster is referring to is the battery connector sleep sensor, please purchase it from iFixit to support this site, rather than a different vendor.
