Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5-1570 USB Port Replacement

If your Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5-1570 does not recognize when devices are plugged into the USB port then your device may have a faulty USB port. The USB port allows the laptop to connect to other devices such as a wireless mouse or an external hard drive. This guide will show you how to successfully replace the USB port. Step 10 requires you to desolder the faulty USB port and resolder a new USB port on to the motherboard, so make sure to read the How to Solder and Desolder Connections guide. Be sure to completely turn off and unplug your device from any external power before you start.

    • Use a spudger to pry open the back case at the two hinge cutouts.

    • Gently use the plastic opening tool around the edges of the laptop to pry up the clips holding the rest of the back panel.

    • Once all the clips have been disengaged, lift off the back cover.

    • Disconnect the wire holding the fan and the motherboard together.

    • Remove the fan from the device.

    • Using your fingers, grasp the entire bundle of wires to pull the battery cable from its connector. This will cut off power to the motherboard.

    • Be sure to apply even pressure across the wires and connector to not damage the battery cable.

    • Remove the battery from the device.

    • Using the iFixit nylon tipped tweezers, disconnect the wire that connects the speakers to the motherboard.

    • Using your hands, gently pull the left speaker up and out of the device.

    • Lift up the connector locking tab and disconnect the cables from the motherboard.
