Goulds Water Technology (a brand under Xylem) manufactures industry-standard submersible pumps widely utilized in residential wells, agriculture, and municipal water systems
Sand and Abrasive Handling: Goulds deep-well submersibles (such as the standard GS series) feature a signature "floating stack" hydraulic design. The impellers are engineered to float independently inside the diffusers rather than being fixed rigidly to the shaft. This allows fine particulates like sand and abrasive grit to pass through the pump stage without binding the motor or scraping the internal components, vastly extending operating lifespan in sandy aquifers.
- Hex Shaft Design: Rather than utilizing standard keyed cylindrical shafts that can shear under high mechanical load, Goulds employs a heavy-duty six-sided (hexagonal) stainless steel drive shaft. This structural profile ensures 100% positive, non-slip power transmission across all multi-stage impellers.
- CentriPro Motor Integration: Goulds water-ends are natively close-coupled to proprietary CentriPro submersible motors (available in 2-wire permanent split capacitor or 3-wire capacitor-start configurations). These NEMA-standard motors feature hermetically sealed stator windings to prevent moisture intrusion, alongside water-lubricated Kingsbury-type thrust bearings to absorb down-thrust loads.
