Background
The Ryobi RS290 Sander is an Orbital Sander made by Ryobi Tools and is made to be used for sanding applications. The Ryobi Sander features a corded design with removable a dust collection bag. Runs up to 12,500 orbits per minute. The RS290 also accepts hook and loop sandpaper, and spin-control braking system.
This product is intended to be used primarily on wood, as stated by RYOBI, and is part of the woodworking tools. This sander is related to their other products like their Circular Saw, Reciprocating Saw, and the Multi Tool.
The Ryobi RS290 Sander is the predecessor of the Ryobi RS290G which is currently in production. The RS290 stopped product in around 2021 when the New RS290G was produced. The newer version is priced at $69.00 by Ryobi and most used RS290's are priced around $30-$40 online.
Identification
The Ryobi RS290 Sander can be identified by its old Ryobi design and color scheme. The RS290 has a navy and black color scheme, and an older Ryobi symbol located on the side and on the dust bag. The older Ryobi symbol design is red and white which differs from the newer Ryobi tools.
The Sanders model number on the label is located on the right-hand side of the sander. This older design is also a corded design and does not use batteries for operation.
Newer Ryobi tools are colored in a bright green compared to the older models like the RS290 which are a darker navy color.
