Background and Identification
Panasonic, formerly called Matsushita Electric, originated in 1918 as a company that specialized in selling duplex lamp sockets. The company has come a long way since the 1940s. Today, Panasonic is headquartered in Japan and offers a range of electronic devices worldwide. Among the home electronics that Panasonic sells are DVD and Blu-ray players. Panasonic DVD players, or media players, allow the user to insert physical DVDs into the player and watch them on a TV display. Panasonic media players come at a range of price points. As of 2020, their most basic DVD player (the DVD-S700) sells for just $50. On the other hand, Panasonic also offers a premium media player (the DP-UB9000) that costs $1000.
Panasonic DVD players are rectangular boxes. They are commonly black or silver in color and designed to sit next to a TV on a TV stand or entertainment center.
