Background and Identification
The Nook HD+ (BNTV600) is a 9" tablet from Barnes & Noble. It was released alongside the Nook HD, a 7” version, on November 8th, 2012. Both of these tablets were successors to the Nook, a Barnes & Noble e-reader and tablet. Originally, users of the Nook tablets could only purchase apps from the Nook Store, which was criticized as having limited options. In May 2013, Barnes & Noble updated their tablets to support apps from the Google Play store, increasing the library of available apps for users. The Nook HD+ runs on the Nook OS, which is a variant of the Android operating system.
In TechRadar’s review of the Nook HD+, they said that while it isn’t a beautifully designed tablet, it is lightweight and has a high-resolution screen that makes it a good pick overall for an e-reader. It mostly competes with the earlier models of iPad from Apple and the Amazon Kindle Fire. Overall, this tablet has received mostly high ratings from users.
