Bard Site Rite 6 Repair

The Bard Site Rite 6 is a portable, hospital-grade ultrasound system designed to provide real-time guidance for the insertion of needles and catheters in vascular structures. The system can also be used for the ultrasound imaging of internal organs. While no longer available for sale on the official BD website, the Bard Site Rite 6 can still be purchased online through third-party medical retailers.

The Bard Site Rite 6 system comes pre-installed with version 1.1.3 of BD's Sherlock 3CG Software. The Sherlock 3CG software is programmed with a real-time needle guiding interface which provides users with a clear visualization of vessels. The software is designed to help clinicians make successful needle insertions, reducing the risk of arterial punctures, hematomas, or pneumothorax.

In 2018, a malfunction was discovered in the Bard Site Rite 6 system's pre-installed Sherlock 3CG software when it failed to properly track the PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) magnet during catheter insertion, leading to an improperly positioned PICC.

The Bard Site Rite 6 ultrasound system has a square, box-like appearance. The device is encased in a plastic shell that surrounds the large screen on the front of the system. A handle is built into the top of the shell, and a base is built into the bottom.

Below the screen are six buttons, with the rightmost one being the power button.

In the center of the right side of the system (screen facing you) is a large, rectangular outlet which is used to plug in the probe holster.

• The BARD logo is found on the front, top left-hand side of the device.
• A Site~Rite 6 logo sticker is located on the front, top right-hand side of the device.
  • Another Site~Rite 6 logo sticker is located on the back right-hand side of the system.
• On the side of the probe is a printed label warning that it may only be used with the Bard Site Rite 6 system.
• A variation of the Bard Site Rite 6's reference number (97770000) can be found on a sticker on the back of the device, as well as printed onto the side of the probe.
