Background Information
Ark Linux, not to be confused with Arch Linux, was a free easy-to-use operating system designed to help new users familiar with Windows-based operating systems transition to a more traditional Linux experience. Ark Linux was officially launched in August of 2001 under the name Ark Linux H2O.
Ark Linux used Red Hat Linux's package manager RPM but also featured support for Advanced Packaging Tools (APT), a streamlined installation process, preconfigured settings, and a comprehensive suite of desktop applications.
Ark Linux received its last major update on May 14, 2008, and was merged with OpenMandriva Linux in June 2012 marking the end of Ark Linux.
