Not Connecting to Wireless Networks

Laptop will show available wireless networks but will not connect, showing unidentified network no internet access.

Unavailable Wi-fi

Sometimes the wi-fi is not connecting on the computer's end. Turn off the wi-fi on your computer then turn it back on.

Non-responsive Router

The router may look like it is working properly, but there may be a connection issue. To reset the router, simply unplug it from its power source. Wait at least ten seconds, then plug it back in. Once it is booted up completely, the wireless network should connect properly.

Frozen Screen

Screen does not respond to user inputs.

Unresponsive Program

A single program can cause a computer screen to freeze or become unresponsive. To close an unresponsive program, press ctrl+alt+del and open the task manager. Select any unresponsive programs and select 'End Task'.

Non-functioning Computer

A program may completely freeze the computer. If ending a task will not work, turn the computer off manually and then restart the computer. Note: this may result in loss of unsaved data.

Non-responsive Keyboard

Keyboard does not input some letters or does not work at all.

Dirty Keyboard

The keys may have dirt or food crumbs stuck under them. Use keyboard brushes or compressed air to clean under the keys.

Poor Keyboard Connection

Sometimes simply restarting the computer will restore a proper connection with an unresponsive keyboard.

Broken Key/Keyboard

The keyboard may have a broken part. To replace a broken keyboard, refer to the keyboard replacement guide.

Computer Overheating

Base of the computer is too hot to comfortably touch.

Non-Functional Cooling Fan

The CPU cooling fan is required to keep the computer running properly. If it stops working, the computer will overheat and could potentially stop working completely. To replace a non-functional CPU cooling fan, refer to the cooling fan replacement guide.

Blue Screen of Death

The laptop crashes or boots to a blue screen.

Driver Conflicts

Loading a new driver may cause conflict with existing drivers. As a result, the laptop will not boot because of corrupted or conflicted driver, or may crash when running certain programs. To solve this problem, uninstall any driver updates that were installed the day of the blue screen.

Improperly Functioning Update

A new operating system update may cause a blue screen. To fix, revert to previous build or block the newer update.

Software Conflict

New software installation may cause a blue screen. Go to device manager in order to uninstall the software from the computer.
