My mom got her phone wet while she was on a run during our vacation. I decided it sounded fun! I really want to get into phone repair, so I thought this would be a good start.

I immediately ordered an iFixit pro tech toolkit (I had been waiting for an excuse!) along with an ultrasonic cleaner. Once we got home from vacation, I pulled open the phone, checked the water damage indicators (all were red), and popped the logic board into the cleaner with 91% isopropyl alcohol. While it was cleaning, I pulled out the battery. After the logic board was done, I dropped the case in the cleaner with all of the components left on it that I didn't take off.
I let it dry, charged it, and I am awaiting my screen in the mail for replacement. I will update the guide as soon as possible!

The iFixit pro tech toolkit is a must have! Also, ultrasonic cleaners can clean just about anything!
But, if you do get your phone wet, DON'T PUT IT IN RICE!!! This will only coat the phone with minerals. What you need to do is fully submerge it in isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater). This will displace the water, preventing further corrosion. Once you either get the necessary tools or contact a repair shop, you can dry off your phone and fix it up!
