Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus takes the familiar iPhone and tweaks it once again. It doesn’t possess new design changes or massive innovations, it offers everything the iPhone 7 does — speedy performance, water resistance, loud speakers, great cameras. The only real differences are the dual camera that offers Portrait mode, which when enabled, zooms in to the “telephoto” lens, keeping the subject sharp and blurring out the background for a nice bokeh effect.
The iPhone 7 Plus A1661 is the most comprehensive model as it works on almost all GSM and CDMA carriers. The world phone is available at Sprint and Verizon in the US, as well as some other countries like Puerto Rico, Hong Kong and China. This is also the model you will receive when you buy the SIM-free unlocked version or when you buy the locked AT&T phone at BestBuy. It supports FDD-LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 as well as TD-LTE bands 38, 39, 40 and 41.
The most commonly needed repairs for the iPhone 7 Plus are cracked screens and dead battery replacements. iFixit has the best iPhone 7 Plus screens and iPhone 7 Plus batteries on the market, along with a complete catalog of other iPhone 7 Plus parts for the less common part swaps.
All iPhone 7 Plus repairs will require a Pentalobe P2 screwdriver and Tripoint screwdriver in addition to standard precision electronics tools. Any repair that removes the battery from the chassis will require replacement adhesive strips. New to iPhone repairs is the iPhone 7 Plus display assembly adhesive, that will need to be purchased for any repair that removes the front screen. Since the iPhone 7 Plus is water resistant, a new screen adhesive will be required in order to retain its resistance to water damage.
