Sparking brushes are common with a new set of brushes.
Hopefully, you cleaned the commutator and polished it up a bit.
That should reduce the a time it takes for the brushes to seat and the sparks to minimize.

actually it is quite common to see for any brushed power tool
normally is during initial startup
