I would recommend replacing the adhesive after you open the device up. The adhesive helps ensure dirt, dust, and water doesn't get into the device. Not replacing the adhesive could result in moisture damage, which would end up costing you far more than the relatively small investment.

Short answer. Yes.
Longer answer. Depending on where you open it up you may damage the adhesive and it will be safer to replace it than not doing it. Replacing it will also ensure liquid resistance is kept.
