Perfect working original screen stopped working after changing battery

So long story short I bought an iPhone XR 2nd hand that was in perfect condition apart from having low battery health. So I changed the battery and afterwards as I was putting the phone back together I kept checking to see if everything was working. It was. So I removed the screen one last time to apply the screen adhesive. Put the rest of the phone back together and did one last check before sealing it back up and to my surprise the screen stopped responding to touch. Iv had this exact same problem with 2 XRS now. One minute it’s working the next it just stops responding to touch. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Goosed,

Did you disconnect the battery before re-connecting the new screen?

Thanks for you reply, yes I always disconnect the battery first and reconnect it last.

Odd. Have you been using the same supplier for the XR replacement screens?

I would usually say it might be a loose digitizer ribbon cable that hasn't been seated correctly, but since it has happened twice and it worked perfectly for a while, I would point a finger at the quality of the screens.

Thank you for your reply. In this case I haven’t changed the screen at all. I’m putting the same original screen back on that I took off. The screens were working before I took them off and after when testing to make sure everything was working. Both times Iv had this happen it had been last thing after putting the metal brackets back and putting the last screws in and just like that the screen stops working. Iv done loads of XRs and iv only had this problem twice and I can’t for the life of me work out where I’m messing up.

I would then suspect that something is physically wrong with the connector. When the bracket is screwed down it might be pushing loose contacts apart. Perhaps it is a bit implausible, but I can't think of many other things that could cause this.
