Hi Erin,

I'm afraid we're going to need more information in order to help. Tell us what happened the last time you used it. Did it shut down by itself? Was it operating normally, or was anything wrong? Did the battery charge? What happens when you plug in the charger? Are there any LEDs on? Any beeps?

What have you checked so far? What have you tried to do to get it to turn on?

I agree, a lot more info is needed to diagnose the problem and suggest possible solutions.

@erinmork you are not giving us much to work with here. Start off with the easy things. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from your computer. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. Remove the battery Now hold the power button depressed for about 30sec-1min. Reapply the AC power adapter and see if your computer does show any sign of life.

Next you want to check your power supply. Make sure it has the proper voltages. Check to make sure connectors are not bend etc. After that, check the charging port. Clean it of any debris etc, use a few puffs of air to clean it out. Check the DC-in jack of your laptop. Make sure there is no corrosion, debris etc. that prevents it from working. If none of this works, get an ammeter and see if your laptop draws any amperage from the charger. After that, you need to check and see if your laptop even gets power. For that of course, you need to open it up.

Since iFixit does not yet have a guide for that, use something like this video Once disassembled you will see that your computer has a DC-IN jack that can be easily replaced with something like this (example only) Measures yours for any voltages when plugged in. If in doubt, replace it. You also want to go ahead and replace the battery as well.

Once you got all that dones, reassemble your computer and reevaluate. If it still does not turn on, the issue will be with your motherboard. Since this is a Toshiba and since that company is even more hateful and use their corporate attorneys to intimidate independent repairs etc, schematics are very scarce. You will need to he motherboard model number to do a schematic search.

If in doubt about anything or if you are stuck with anything, post some good pictures so we can see what you see and hopefully can help you further.

While you work on your laptop, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
