How to remove and replace the rubber of the circle pad from the shell?

My 2ds xl's analog pad works fine, but the rubber covering is damaged. I was wondering if there was a way to remove it. Additionally, I was wondering if there was a way to remove the entire plastic under the rubber from the shell and replace it. Thanks in advance!

I think you can just pop off the rubber and put a new one on, but you can't remove the plastic. It's part of the circle pad.

Hi!

I'm sorry but KineTheFish's comment is wrong. The joystick in 3DS and 2DS systems is composed of two things :
- the analog stick which looks like this : https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1810/1...
- the cover cap, which leads the stick and looks like this : https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1810/1...

The two parts can easily be separated, but you need to open your console to do so. But as you can see on the second picture, the rubber part of the stick and the plastic part underneath are just one piece, they cannot be separated. If you want to change it, you have to change it all, rubber AND plastic, and all the replacement parts i have found so far aren't rubber at all, they're all hard plastic. In my opinion it's not a big deal, but keep in mind that if you replace it, you may never get the original feel of the stick unless you take one directly from another console.

After further investigation, it seems like you actually can pop the rubber off original sticks, so KineTheFish's comment wasn't entirely wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that all the replacement sticks you'll find will be in one piece so you'll have to open the console and replace the plastic part too.
