What to do about the dust between screen and gasket?

I am talking about the tiny little gap we have In between our screen and the rubber gasket that goes around it, which collects dust. You can check the links below to get a picture of what I am talking about.

You probably think you have no gap on yours, but grab a flashlight and look closer, you probably do. And the amount of dust in collects is actually impressive considering its size.

So how bad of a problem can that be? Just grab a brush or the corner of a piece of paper and pry the dust out right? Well the problem is even if the screen of the MacBook is laminated, bugs can still crawl inside it! So can dust. And prying with a piece of paper or brush can push the dust particles where you least want to have them reside. See the links below to check out some of the users who have had issues with dust or bugs under the screen.

The solution? Well, I do not have one and any attempts of mine to attack the problem feel like they might just push the dust inside. Canned air? Will probably push the dust under the screen. Cleaning slime silly putty etc? I do not know what they contain and if they might react with the anti-reflective coating and cause a bad case of stains, also might break inside somewhere or hurt the integrity of the rubber gasket. Blutack? All the concerns for the slime are present here and also a user had a look under a microscope while cleaning AirPods and found it actually pushed the dirt further inside, so it is not actually filling me with confidence. You can see it below.

So if you can come up with a solution and share it, I would be really thankful. This has been bugging me for a while.

Also as a side note, I was wondering If it possible for dust to actually get under the screen from the gap in question or if the unfortunate examples above of dust/insects entered through the hinges or somewhere else? If anyone here has taken it apart and can tell us, that would be great as well!

Hi

I have a MacBook with a similar issue and I find that a very very small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a brush with fine bristles helps get the dust and debris out

Just some sure to wipe any excess away as this can sometimes get into places you you don’t want it

Also as for dust Getting under the glass :this shouldn’t happen as apple LOADS up the glass bezel with adhesive so that shouldn’t be a worry:-)

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)
